Jivan is originally from mid-western hilly region of Nepal. He came to Australia as an international student in 2016. While much of his extended family still lives in Nepal, Jivan lives in Tasmania with his wife Anita, and their 11 year old daughter.
Jivan serves as the Project Coordinator of the Community Support Program that Hobart Nepali Church runs. There are more than 10,000 Nepalese people living in Hobart, and many opportunities to share God’s love in tangible ways. Jivan’s heart is connect with Nepalese people in Hobart to build relationships, offer practical support and share the Gospel.
Jivan writes, “Our Community Support Program supports individual coming as international students and refugees by providing 12 hrs free driving mentorship through our learner driver lessons, linguistic support and interpretation, help in setting in Tasmania, assistance in finding jobs, support using government and health services, and shopping. Public transport in Hobart is not good, and our 12-seater bus enables us to transport people, helping them attend church, move house, connect with others and more.”
Jivan’s vision for this ministry is for it to be as a vessel for Gospel sharing. The Gospel sharing comes out of our love for the people we are connecting with, not as an exchange for the free service we offer.
Baptist Mission Australia partners with Jivan and the ministry in Hobart. We are excited to see how a local community of believers is sharing God’s love in innovative yet simple ways.
Please note:
