Our Key Causes
At Baptist Mission Australia we’re about four key Christ-centred mission causes
These causes are pursued by our teams and mission partners in local communities across the world.
We yearn to see people become followers of Jesus and join locally led, contextual, multiplying,
disciple-making faith communities.
Examples of what this looks like:
The daily ministry of our intercultural teams as they build relationships, journey alongside believers, share stories from the Bible and pray with local friends.
Projects such as Sharing the Good News in New Ways in South Asia, Oral Bible Translation in Mozambique and Ministry House in Thailand.
Partnership with the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation in supporting the Director of Mission role, which is helping support church planting and discipleship across Asia.
We join in God’s concern for justice, economic, health, ecological, education and employment challenges. With our partners we put our faith into action to implement initiatives that support holistic, local community transformation.
Examples of what this looks like:
Integral mission initiatives of intercultural team members around the world that address local needs.
Projects such as Creation Care in South East Asia and Disability support in the Silk Road Area and Cambodia.
Partnerships with locally developed entities in our current locations, including South East Asia, South Asia, Cambodia, Thailand and Malawi.
We come alongside local believers and ministry partners to support the development of missional leaders and to amplify global south voices.
Examples of what this looks like:
Leadership development among faith community leaders in South Asia, South East Asia, Malawi, Outback Australia and Thailand.
Projects such as Equipping and Empowering Leaders in Thailand and Church Leader Training in Zambia, Zimbabwe and India.
Partnership with Baptist associations in piloting contextual mission training with Baptist leaders in Assam, India.
We value the importance of innovation and partnership, cultivating missional imagination in culturally and religious diverse Australia and across our rapidly changing world.
Examples of what this looks like:
Ministering among international students in Sydney and young entrepreneurs in Thailand.
Partnership with Citywide Baptist Church in sharing God’s love with Nepali community in Hobart.
Partnership with Whitley College and Global Baptist Mission Network in a Global survey exploring polycentric missional practice.
