Towards understanding

19 August 2026

A few weeks ago, we were running a Discovery Bible Study at the Salvation Army in Auburn when a curious young Chinese guy came over and asked what we were doing.

He was very interested that we were reading the Bible and joined us for the last bit of the study.

‘Ron’ had been in Australia as an international student for one week at that point. We asked him if he wanted to join us that night for our community group dinner and Bible study. He was very touched to be invited to someone’s home and to try Australian BBQ.

Ron told us that he’d read a lot about Christianity online as a teenager in China. He wasn’t allowed to go to a church as he was under 18.

One day his careers advisor asked him what we wanted to do when he grew up. He told him he wanted to be a priest! The careers advisor responded by referring him to a psychologist.

Ron is very keen to understand more about Christianity however we think he still doesn’t quite understand the Gospel. Pray for us as we continue sharing about Jesus with him.

It’s been encouraging to see Ron come regularly to our church and community group. Pray that God’s Spirit would help him to understand the Gospel.

I would also appreciate your prayers as I journey with Ron and walk alongside him in discipleship.
