It all started at the end of a long hot day while searching for a Coke-Zero.

Having searched the usual shops near our home, I decided to take my chances in another direction. Coming to a small shop which I’d never seen, I asked the young man sitting inside if he happened to have a cold Coke-Zero available.

“Yes I do!” came the reply. As a small boy was sent around the back to retrieve the item, the shopkeeper rose and made his way towards me on crutches.

I soon discovered that ‘Manan’ had lost his left leg in a motorbike accident two years ago.

As a result he had closed his mechanics business and opened the small grocery store in front of his house.

Not yet knowing I was a physiotherapist, Manan then told me about his dream to get a new prosthetic leg (he even showed me a few videos of what he wanted). I asked him if he’d been to the local rehab organisation. He said that he’d need an introduction (introductions are very important in this country). When I told Manan who I was and that I could help, he was amazed!

Long story short, Manan has now been assessed for a prosthetic leg and will be fitted in the coming month. The signs are that he will do very well and is even talking of reopening his mechanics business! But what has most amazed me, is how God has worked in this situation to connect us.

Manan firmly believes that God sent me to him using Coke-Zero! He explained that three days earlier, he found that one bottle in his stock. Not normally selling this item, he decided to put it in the fridge in his house behind the shop. Then I turned up!

Manan is a charismatic young man who is gradually introducing me to everyone he knows and telling them how God even works through Coke-Zero! I’m not about to argue with that and I look forward to seeing how God will use this growing relationship for His glory.
