Felicity shares what love looks like for her in South Asia.
“As a midwife, I choose to be an intercultural team member because I want to share Jesus’ love in practical ways with those who have the least opportunity to experience it. I’m especially passionate about sharing His love with disadvantaged women in remote places. Let me share just a few examples of what this love looks like.
In the birthing centre, I’m teaching midwives how to use current evidence-based practices in a way that gives women dignity. The community is starting to notice a difference, and an increasing number of women are coming to the centre for care and safer births.
I was asked by a community to come and see a woman who had many miscarriages and was now paralysed in both her arms and legs. She was abandoned by her husband, and his relatives took her only child. I didn’t know how to help her using my nursing and midwifery skills, so we lay hands on her and prayed in Jesus’ name. She was immediately healed! Each time I visit, I pray with her for continued strength and restoration of her situation. The last time I saw her, she greeted me with hugs and tears, telling me how much she appreciates my care because I’m willing to come and help when everyone else turns away. Her son has now returned to her, and she’s open to hearing about Jesus.
This April, I have the privilege of sharing an Easter message with some of the women I serve. I hope to encourage them and help them recognise God’s love and value for women. I can’t contribute in any of these ways without prayer and financial support. Thank you for helping me in this work of bringing God’s love to life every day, in every place”
