Baptist Mission Australia is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Chin Christian Council in Australia (CCCA) to establish the CCCA Mission Hub in Myanmar, located north of Yangon.
This visionary initiative represents a significant step forward in developing contextual approaches to mission among Buddhist communities throughout central and northern Myanmar.
This partnership is especially notable given the cruel and unceasing war waged on the people of Myanmar by the military junta. Our work together in mission is a testament to the courage of Chin Baptists and sign of hope for the future of this hurting country.
The CCCA has a vision to create a Mission Hub with purpose-built classrooms and administrative facilities designed to equip mission workers with essential skills for effective ministry in Buddhist contexts. A key component of the hub will be a business incubator, empowering local people to develop sustainable income streams that provide financial stability for mission work across the country.
This innovative approach will enable bi-vocational workers to gain valuable self-supporting skills, allowing them to serve effectively for the long haul.
The first step is land! The CCCA have secured land and Baptist Mission Australia is honoured to partner with them through a contribution towards the purchase costs. Construction of the Mission Hub is expected to commence later this year. The project is primarily funded by Chin Baptists in Myanmar and the Chin Baptist diaspora in Australia, demonstrating their remarkable commitment to mission.
We are excited to come alongside the CCCA, supporting their vision to mobilise workers while providing intercultural and inter-religious contextual training as identified by Chin Baptist leadership. We also gratefully acknowledge the incredible gift that the Chin Baptist diaspora is to the Australian Baptist movement, as is the case with other Burmese diaspora communities.
Their presence among us has significantly expanded our understanding of who God is and God’s love for the world through mission. We also welcome their commitment to strengthen their engagement in our activities, including exposing Chin youth and young adults to global mission serving opportunities.
We value the existing faithful, prayerful and generous support of churches and donors from across our Australian Baptist movement. As this continues, we are excited to place before our churches and supporters new global south facing mission catalysing and leadership development opportunities.
Australian Baptists have tangibly and generously shown their compassion and concern for the people of Myanmar over recent years, and we look forward to partnering together this new in-country faith venture.
Your contribution of any amount towards the purchase cost of the land will help make this vision a reality. Join us in supporting this transformative initiative that will equip Baptist mission workers and create sustainable pathways for sharing God’s love throughout Myanmar.
