What an encouragement it is to look back and see God’s hand at work!
We are now into our ninth year living in Cambodia and it is indeed a privilege to be a part of God’s Kingdom work here.
We have seen transformation in ministry opportunities. A couple of years ago some of the Cambodian team established a project to open a cafe in a traditional old Khmer house. The project never quite got started in the way it was envisaged, but this gave way to an even better idea to partner with an existing restaurant business.
We have been invited by the managers to come alongside young Khmer people to help them develop skills in hospitality and life. Although the managers have different perspectives of faith, they have invited us to share our life and faith with the restaurant team. We are very excited about the relationships that continue to develop as we pray with them and share life skills and conversational English.
We have seen transformation in our team, from 100% Aussies a couple of years ago, to now being 50% Khmer. We are excited that we now have a greater depth to our language and cultural understanding and the capacity of sharing Jesus in a way that has less communication barriers.
We have seen transformation in relationships. For around six years Rob has had a village neighbour as his Khmer language helper. They meet together several times a week and this often involves reading the Khmer Bible and praying. It has been an interesting experience for Rob seeing Bible stories through the eyes of a devout Buddhist.
And we have seeing transformation in the life of Mr S, a long term Khmer friend who has declared that he now also is a follower of Jesus! Mr S has started a faith journey that is a thrilling journey to be a part of.
