This project provides the resources to address low English language proficiency.
While it is a government requirement to learn English at school, there is limited support to gain language proficiency and few opportunities to practice.
Our team members Glenn and Liz are well known in the community and are often approached by families asking to help with English lessons. Not only is this an identified need but it is also an opportunity to deepen networks and continue growing in trust as they focus on ministry among the Ethnic Thai.
A small English language centre has been established to run highly subsidised English lessons for primary and secondary students on weekends, with scope to offer adult and pre-school classes mid-week.
Classes have been running since early 2022 with great community engagement. The cost of the project covers rent, teaching materials and resources so our team can offer a highly subsidised, affordable rate for local families.
Teaching not only provides valuable, practical and economic outcomes for the children, it creates opportunities for our team to build deep relationships with the children’s parents and grandparents. The whole community benefits!
