Myanmar Partnership

Working with our partners we are providing humanitarian support after the earthquake in March 2025, vital relief to displaced people, advocacy, education and school funding, trauma training, and support for pastoral and leadership training.

We can’t forget the people of Myanmar. They are some of the most vulnerable people on the planet. Needs in the country and on the Thai, Indian and Chinese borders are enormous and growing. Since the military junta staged a coup and took over government in Myanmar in 2021, the situation has continued to escalate with no end to violence, increase in aerial bombings, human rights abuses and with the introduction of conscription.

Baptist Mission Australia is working with Sharing Hope, Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Convention, Chin Christian Council Australia, Kachin Baptist Convention and other partners to express the hope of Jesus in action.

Myanmar Earthquake Appeal

Will you join us?

On Friday, 28 March a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck in North-West Myanmar causing widespread destruction and damage. Numerous high-magnitude aftershocks have continued and on Sunday, 30 March a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar will further damaging and traumatic aftershocks.

These earthquakes and aftershocks have caused significant and widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis is unfolding: more than 3,000 people so far have lost their lives, over 4,500 people are seriously injured and hundreds are still missing as recovery efforts continue. Infrastructure is destroyed, homes are damaged – some flattened – and the risk is not over with continuing aftershocks and infrastructure instability.

Through our Myanmar partnership, we are raising funds for urgent humanitarian aid and relief that will be delivered through partners, many who are in the midst of this suffering. We are in communication with our Karen, Chin and Kachin partners and as the stories and accounts of injury, loss of life, personal loss and the trauma of war come through, so do the incredible testimonies of hope, of survival, of neighbour coming alongside neighbour.

Non-tax deductible gifts will provide flexibility for short and long-term recovery and support, whether faith-based or direct post-earthquake relief.

Tax deductible gifts will go towards urgent humanitarian aid, relief and rebuilding.

Will you stand with the people of Myanmar, financially and prayerfully? Your support will help meet urgent humanitarian needs and invest in the difficult task of rebuilding in the face of an ongoing war.
