“I thought I was going to die.”
When Pele walked into our house and said those words, we were very surprised. Not by what he was saying, but because he was there, standing in front of us, walking, talking and no longer in a hospital bed.
The day before, his best friend had come running, worried and begging for help. Pele was in extreme pain, beyond anything anyone had experienced, and they knew something was really wrong.
Scott drove them to the hospital, but the medical staff, lacking diagnostic resources, didn’t have any answers. He groaned in pain as they tried to work out what was wrong. It was awful for him and for those around him who were unable to help. There was nothing to do except pray. So they prayed, for healing and for peace.
In June we organised a month of prayer for our Yawo neighbours. Many of our supporters in Australia used a daily prayer guide that focused on a different topic of Yawo life each day.
The day after Pele was admitted to hospital the prayer focus was health. In an online time of prayer that day, we shared about his situation and people prayed for him.
That evening, Pele walked through our front door!
“I’m happy Uncle prayed for me. I thought I was going to die. God saved my life.”
Hearing that so many people were praying for him, Pele smiled and nodded,
“Good. Thank you. Only God.”
Thank you for joining with us and many others, to seek the Father with and for our Yawo friends. We are continually reminded that the work and the victory are God’s, and He is doing things we cannot see.
