Crossing the Street
Bible study
Children
We’ve created this Children’s Resource to be a launching pad for primary school aged group discussions and activities. Each of the sessions can be used as part of the full Crossing the Street series or as a standalone resource.

How to use this resource
The Crossing the Street Children’s Resource is a four session series. The aim of this resource is for kids to learn from Jesus’ example of loving all people and explore how we can all cross the street and love people. Please use this material as a launching pad for you to shape for your context.
Through the sessions, children will explore stories of Jesus in the Bible, as well as discover what it means for them and how they can be a part of God’s mission. This is achieved through games, activities, Bible stories, discussion questions, videos and prayer.
Session overviews
Jesus was sent by God to Earth, to help teach people about God and help them get to know God. Jesus had a big job to do! But Jesus was still human, so He couldn’t physically be on Earth forever. After He died on the cross, He came back and left a special gift behind – the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a helper that we still have with us today.
Scripture
John 20:19-23 (Jesus appears to His disciples)
Jesus spent a lot of time preparing people to go and share the Gospel and God’s love. We’re just as prepared today as the 72 people in the story to ‘go’ and join in God’s mission. That’s what He wants us to do – He wants us to go and find people to share the good news of Jesus.
Scripture
Luke 10:1-4 (Jesus sends out the Seventy-Two)
What does it mean to be Jesus today? It means getting alongside people, listening to them, talking with them and simply being with them. It means showing them compassion, giving them hope, fighting for justice and showing God’s love to them. It’s saying with our words how much we believe in and love God, but also acting like we do, no matter what!
Scripture
Matthew 8:1-3 (Jesus heals a man with leprosy)
Printables
We’re so much better together – we can achieve so much more than just simply on our own. This is why Jesus sent out His disciples and followers together, never by themselves. This is why Jesus relied on not just Himself, but on God the Father and the Holy Spirit also. If Jesus needed extra support, how much more do we?
Scripture
Luke 10:30-37 (The parable of the Good Samaritan)
