We’re partnering with the local Department of Education to repair two schools. In Northern Mozambique strong winds can blow off school roofs and damage structures that are often built with available local materials. Limited resources mean storm damage goes unrepaired or inferior materials are used, creating unsafe conditions. Schools must then choose between operating in hazardous conditions or closing. This affects education quality, contributing to poor literacy and low attendance.
Our partnership seeks to break this cycle and see a generation of school children have uninterrupted education. This is a gift to the local communities where our teams live and serve. It not only helps many families, it builds trust and provides opportunities for deeper relationships with families, staff, local tradespeople and government officials.
er satisfaction. This leads to improved learning outcomes. Education can change the course of a child’s life.
The cost of the school building rehabilitation is around USD $5,500 per school depending on sustained damage, availability of required materials and contractor fees for each situation. This figure has increased this year, due to increased fuel and building supply costs.
Our team’s long-term partnership with the Education Department ensures more safe learning environments for neighbours. What a valuable investment for whole-of-life transformation for the community!
