Muana and Villy are much-loved members of our mission community.
They are humble, hospitable, fun, gentle, supportive and encouraging. Their commitment to their ministry, teammates and our organisation is exceptional, rooted in a deep and mature love for Jesus. As they mark 25 years of ministry in Thailand, we thank God for their faithful service.
Here, they share some reflections with Jane Norman from our National Team.
Jane: How do you feel as you think back on the past 25 years serving among the Thai people?
Muana and Villy: As we look back, we feel a deep sense of gratitude to God, our organisation, the churches and supporters who have journeyed with us, and our partners here in Thailand. It’s these elements that have allowed, enabled and supported us to serve among the Thai people. It has been a remarkable journey marked by both highs and lows, successes and failures, joys and challenges. And all these experiences have deepened or broadened our understanding of God and His heart for people, which is so precious.

Jane: What is a memorable moment for you?
Muana and Villy: There have been many such moments, both within our own family and within the wider family of God, including the Thai communities of faith. Yet the most meaningful of all are when we have walked with people as they have acknowledged, accepted and entered into a relationship with Jesus.
Jane: What’s are some things you love about the Thai people?
Muana and Villy: We love their spirit of hospitality, their gentleness and their calm demeanour, qualities reflected in the way they speak and live. All of this is beautifully wrapped in the spirit of ‘sanuk’ – a joyful sense of fun that is woven into everyday life.

Jane: After such experience, what’s a hint, tip or word of advice that you could share with new team members just starting out their ministry?
Muana and Villy: We would encourage new team members to truly embrace and engage with the people in their language, culture, worldview and way of life – just as Jesus did in demonstrating His love. As we see in Philippians 2, Christ humbled Himself, emptying Himself to become one of us.
Jane: How can we be praying for your family and your local friends?
Muana and Villy: Pray for good health for our family, so that we may faithfully serve Him wherever God has placed us. Pray for our Thai brothers and sisters, that they would grow strong in their faith and experience the fullness of the Lord’s power, love, and peace.
