Rob and Deb are based in a rural village outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Like most Khmer, their neighbours are predominantly Buddhist who see Christianity as a foreigner’s religion.
Since 2016, Rob and Deb have faithfully served among the Khmer and are committed to building authentic relationships with their neighbours whilst being immersed in Khmer culture and language.
Additionally, they engage with the community through volunteering at the local health clinic and school. Deb volunteers as a midwife and nurse, while Rob uses his agricultural skills working with the school community through a community fruit and vegetable garden.
They are grateful to see relationships deepen as they come alongside their Khmer neighbours. They are developing an understanding of what brings their friends meaning and purpose in a communal culture; which complicates conversations about faith in Jesus when choices about life and faith are community decisions.
Rob and Deb ask you to partner with them as they continue to build relationships with people of peace. Together with you, our long-term vision is to see movements of faith of Khmer believers, following Jesus in a way that makes sense within their culture and community.
Deb and Rob are currently in Australia preparing to return for their next term of service in Cambodia. They would love to share stories with you, your small group or church. Please contact the SA/NT State Office to connect with them.
