Baptist Mission Australia intercultural team members began serving among the Boro people of Assam, India in 1947. In the years that followed, many more team members joined the team and the ministry grew to also include Garo and Rabha communities in the same region. The team shared the Gospel, nurtured leaders and responded to medical and educational needs.
Today there are more than 30,000 members across 250 churches among Boro, Garo and Rabha communities. Baptist Mission Australia’s partnership with Assam, now also including the Adivasis people group, continues through scholarships for church leaders, visits for teaching and pastoral encouragement and ministry program subsidies.

A memorandum of understanding with the Baptist Churches of Mizoram, India, has facilitated the secondment of intercultural team members from Mizoram to work within our intercultural teams.
