Roger is Baptist Mission Australia's Intercultural Mission Advisor. For seven years he and his wife Barbara served in Zambia, where Roger played a significant part in establishing the inter-denominational Theological College of Central Africa.
Roger consults with Baptist Mission Australia's intercultural teams about cultural awareness and communicating the message of Jesus interculturally. He has developed an anthropological seminar which he conducts during visits to teams.
He is also researching how best to disciple groups of new believers and develop a strong spiritual leadership. The aim is to support Baptist Mission Australia teams in this important area of work. The leaders of established church groups value Roger’s input as he encourages them to find ways of training that are locally sustainable, often through non-residential extension courses. Roger also teaches in some training programs.
Roger also oversees Project Timothy – an avenue by which Australian teachers and preachers work with African and Indian colleagues in a grass-roots level training program, which empowers local pastors in leading and developing their churches.
