Wednesday 21 Dec
David and Eliza have been living in the Silk Road Area for the past year.
Christmas is not celebrated in the Muslim community where David and Eliza live. There are no decorations and fairy lights to light up the snow covered streets and houses. No carollers sing about good news of great joy. No nativity scenes announce the miracle of Immanuel, God with us.
But this year advent candles and a nativity scene grace the lounge room of the David and Eliza. They have been praying and preparing to share the true Christmas gift with their neighbours.
Zarina is Eliza’s friend. They meet up to chat over coffee about life and are sharing the things that are important to them. They’ve begun reading the Scriptures and praying together. Eliza believes that the Holy Spirit is warming Zarina’s heart.
Christmas Eve is Zarina’s birthday so Eliza has invited her family to a celebratory meal. In the middle of a frosty northern hemisphere winter Eliza is offering warm friendship, hospitality and conversation around a meal served with ‘love and grace’. A small but significant step along the way in Zarina recognising Jesus’ invitation to life.
Please pray for Eliza and of our workers as they seek opportunities to share the Christmas story this weekend.
Could you prayerfully consider adding the least-reached to your Christmas list this year so that people like Zarina can have the opportunity to receive the life transforming gift of Jesus. What a precious gift that is!
