Welcome to another year on mission together.
We step into a new year of ministry together knowing that we live in uncertain times, but we can have confidence in our unchanging, faithful God.
We begin 2022 with our new name Baptist Mission Australia. It’s a simple name that clearly speaks of who we are as the intercultural mission arm of the Australian Baptist movement. We’re proud of this long and fruitful partnership and we look forward to building on it in 2022 as well as strengthening international partnerships in the year ahead.

As we celebrate this new season in our wonderful mission story, we also humble ourselves, seeing the need to continue to listen, learn and be led by the Spirit, so we may remain innovative in our approach to sharing the good news of Jesus.
We are passionately committed to our teams in Africa, Asia and Outback Australia and we value the great support each of our intercultural workers receive from partners across our movement.
And while we will continue to come alongside people in each of the communities we work in currently, we’re also positioning ourselves to be open to the Spirit’s leading to serve in other places. We see that this will primarily be in partnership with others, an outcome identified in our 2021-2025 Strategic Roadmap. We value your prayers as we explore new Gospel partnership opportunities in the year ahead.
Last Friday a service of thanksgiving was held for one of the giants of our mission community
Arthur Kelshaw. As we mark Arthur’s passing and celebrate his legacy, he would have been greatly encouraged by news of new team members joining us in a range of roles.
Caryn Chan commenced this week in a new Leadership Team role as the Director of Governance and Central Services, and
Rachel Stevens, based in Adelaide, also joined the team as our new Next Generation Specialist.
Two new State Leaders have also been appointed and we’re excited to be welcoming
Lisa Cornish as our South Australia & Northern Territory State Leader and
Graham Hill as our new Western Australia State Leader.
Please join me in praying for each of these new National Team members.
As we continue to navigate mission in the midst of the pandemic, I continue to pray “Come Holy Spirit”. Each day I need the Spirit’s wisdom, guidance, comfort, peace, strength and challenge.
Together we are a Spirit people, a Spirit community. I invite you to join me at the beginning of our 2022 ministry year to join me in this simple, but powerful daily prayer: “Come Holy Spirit”. I have found God can surprise me as I pray these three words. I have experienced the God of “new things” as I have prayed these three words.
Thanks for your vital partnership with us.
Grace and peace
Scott
P.S. Can I invite you to save the date – Feb 16, 5pm [AEDT] for our online 2022 Global Launch. Watch out for more details coming soon. We would love you to join us!
