Wednesday 25 Jan
As we begin a new year, we celebrate a God who goes before us.
It’s great to be back on deck after my extended leave. I’m very thankful for the support, care and prayers of so many people across our mission community.
I met yesterday with my Leadership Team colleagues and we’re looking forward to stepping out in faith with our team mates from across the world and our highly valued partners, as we look to God’s Spirit to lead us in 2023.
For more than 140 years, our people and our partners have bonded together, each playing their own unique part in our wonderful faith story; each embracing God’s gracious invitation to mission.
Our Baptist Mission Australia theme for 2023 is The God who goes before us.
This theme has a past and future perspective. We look back and celebrate God’s faithfulness over our more than 140 year history. And we look ahead, in a rapidly changing world and with big shifts in international mission, knowing our absolute dependence on God’s Spirit to lead us as a mission community.
We will unpack our 2023 theme in more detail at our 2023 Launch on Wednesday 15 February, 7-8pm AEDT. I would like to personally invite you to join us for this special time of celebration and dedication.
The launch will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Melbourne with New Hope’s Senior Pastor Allan Demond as our guest speaker. Supporters in Melbourne will be very welcome to join us in person at the launch. Additionally, we will stream the launch so that intercultural team members and supporters from across Australia and around the globe can share in special gathering. Watch out for more details!
As we look to
The God who goes before us we have been discerning our strategic priorities for 2023. You can read about these priorities
here >>
They capture our desire to strengthen our ministry in existing locations across the world, while also recognising the opportunities for new missional initiatives in our changing world. With huge shifts in international mission and the days of the 'west to the rest' behind us, there is also the need for an organisation like ours to ask courageous questions about our future directions. As a valued partner, please be in touch if you have questions about our 2023 priorities.
I am also excited that in the year ahead we will refresh long-standing partnerships in Papua New Guinea, Papua, Zambia and India. I look forward to sharing more information on these partnerships in the months ahead.
As we commit 2023 to the Lord, we’re thankful for so many wonderful stories of hope and transformation from across our intercultural teams. In Africa, across Asia and in Australia we see God at work through our passionate team members and mission partners. Please join me this year in regularly praying for our intercultural team members.
A great way to do that is by using our 2023 Baptist Mission Australia Guide, which you can access here >>
In our changing and uncertain world, we know we can rely on our unchanging, faithful and loving God to lead us into new seasons of ministry. We recognise that one way God enables this ministry is through the wonderful prayerful and financial support of our partners – individuals and churches. More than ever we need your support!
Your generous financial and prayerful support is a Kingdom investment that is changing lives around the globe!
Grace and peace
Scott
