Activity
Using the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples, you can pray for Baptist Mission Australia intercultural workers or a specific worker who you know.
Read the Lord’s Prayer line by line (bold), pausing after each phrase to allow open prayer; let the italic words form the basis for your prayers.
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name
Mission must always start from a heart that overflows with love and gratitude to God otherwise we have nothing to offer to a needy world.
I pray that God remains the centre of Baptist Mission Australia mission work and that the intercultural workers will be filled with the Holy Spirit to serve Jesus whole-heartedly.
Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven
The way in which our work is done demonstrates God’s rule on earth. It should be God-honouring and contribute to the growth and development of the people around us. Also the results of our work need to have a Kingdom impact. It’s not enough to preach a fantastic sermon or to translate scripture; we need to see people drawn into deeper communion with Christ through the sermon or scripture.
I pray that both the way in which Baptist Mission Australia intercultural workers do their work and the impact of their ministry will contribute to God’s Kingdom coming and His will being done on earth – just as it is in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
What type of daily bread can you pray for our intercultural workers to receive?
- Resources: this will depend on the person and the situation but as well as financial support they may need a house and car.
- People: the intercultural workers minister to the people groups in teams. Ask for God to call more people to join our work.
- Wisdom: to know when, where and how to use resources to share the Gospel.
I ask that God will provide for Baptist Mission Australia intercultural workers all the wisdom, knowledge and resources that they need in order to share the Gospel with the least-reached people groups they serve.
And forgive us our sins
I pray that Baptist Mission Australia intercultural workers will regularly turn to God and others for forgiveness, and that they would grow in character. I ask that they won’t hold onto issues against others and that the team will be united as they minister to the local people.
And lead us not into temptation
I pray against any distractions from the work that the Baptist Mission Australia intercultural workers have been called to do. God please strengthen them so that they will be strong to resist temptation in all its forms.
Deliver us from the evil one
Satan is working to disrupt the progress of the Gospel around the world.
Pray for protection over the physical and spiritual health of intercultural workers as they live in places where other spiritual forces are strong. Pray that the team would support one another and stay strong when attacks are felt.
For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours. Now and forever. Amen.
